The OMAX 40X-2500X Touch Screen PLAN Infinity Trinocular Siedentopf LED Compound Biological Microscope is an elegant device that comes with outstanding features that make it ideal for advanced life science research. |
|
In addition to a 5MP digital camera and a 9.7 inch touch screen display, some of the other important aspects of the microscope include:
Design/Body Frame
The OMAX 40X-2500X Touch screen PLAN Infinity Trinocular Siedentopf LED Compound Biological Microscope has a sturdy design that is worth mentioning. The body frame of this device shows creativity particularly when considering the specially designed slot at the back of the stand for easy holding and carrying. This makes it easier to hold or move the microscope which is 50cm x 41cm x 20cm in dimension and 17 lbs (7.7kg) in weight.
Microscope Head
This OMAX Compound Biological Microscope comes with a Trinocular Siedentopf viewing head, which has a number of advantages.
With a trinocular head, users have the freedom to use the third tube to connect the monitor for viewing or users can simply remove the monitor and connect a camera that can then be connected to a bigger monitor or a computer if need be. Therefore, users do not have to remove one of the eyepieces for additional attachments.
The trinocular viewing head also allows more than one user to view the specimen given. This becomes particularly beneficial for explaining the specimen to students or making presentations.
The other advantage here is the Siedentopf binocular head. In addition to being easier to use (by simply turning the eyepiece tubes about a scale axis) the Siedentopf head can be adjusted repeatedly without affecting focus.
For kids, this is a great feature given that they can change the interpupillary distance as much as they need to without changing focus. As such, it becomes easier and more convenient to use compared to a microscope with a sliding viewing head where focus changes with every adjustment of the interpupillary distance.
Comfort of use is also enhanced by the rotatable and inclined Siedentopf viewing head. The 30 degree angle of inclination makes it easier and comfortable for users to view the specimen while seated. This keeps users from having to strain to view the specimen thereby preventing or greatly minimizing risks of strained neck muscles.
The Siedentopf viewing head can be rotated 360 degrees. When viewing the specimen through the binocular eyepieces, this becomes particularly convenient when several people are viewing the specimen. Rather than turning the entire microscope, users seated opposite to each other can simply turn the Siedentopf head to their direction to view the specimen.
The Siedentopf viewing head also comes with a pair of wide field WF10X/18 and WF25X eyepieces. Wide field eyepieces allow for easier viewing due to a larger lens opening. On the other hand, having two types of eyepieces will allow the user to interchange eyepieces as needed depending on the specimen being used given that each type will result in different magnifications.
Objectives
The OMAX 40X-2500X Touch screen PLAN Infinity comes with four high quality PLAN infinity achromatic objectives (4X/0.10, 10X/0.25, 40X/0.65 (spring), 100X/1.25 (spring, oil)). When combined with the eyepieces, these objectives provide six levels of magnification ranging from 40X to 2500X (40X-100X-250X-400X-1000X-2500X).
The PLAN infinity objectives also have a number of advantages that include:
Some of the other features include:
Lighting/Illumination
For this microscope, light is transmitted, which means that it passes through the specimen. This makes it possible to view the internal structures of the specimen (cells, organelles etc).
The microscope also uses a 3W LED lamp, which has a number of advantages. Some of these advantages (when compared to other light sources like halogen bulbs) include a longer life span, they use less energy, they produce no heat and none or very little color change over time.
Beam Splitting
In a binocular microscope, a light beam is split into two before arriving at the eyepieces and to the eyes. However, this being a trinocular microscope, there is a moving prism system that allows for light to be directed towards the binocular as well as the third attachment tube for the camera. Therefore, the microscope has in place a lever that can be used to switch light towards the binocular or the camera.
Depending on how the microscope is being used, the lever can switch the beam to the photo port or 100 percent to the eyepieces in the event that the photo-tube is not in use. This therefore allows the user the freedom to direct beams to either the eyepieces or the photo-tube or only to the eyepieces depending on their needs.
The Digital Display System
This OMAX 40X-2500X Trinocular Microscope comes with a digital display system that consists of a 9.7 inch Color LCD Touch Screen and a camera (5MP) with a 0.37X adjustable reduction lens.
Once connected, the user can simply view the specimen on the 9.7 inch Color LCD touch screen that is attached on the photo-tube. An adjustable reduction lens also allows the user to adjust the field of view to view the specimen or given points of the specimen as they desire.
The system (works on Android 4.2.2 operating system) connectivity can be achieved through the following:
Using this system, users can easily use the operating system to capture still images, record videos and transfer them to a PC for storage or sharing. This system makes it easier for the microscope to be used for teaching and presentations.
