The OMAX digital trinocular compound LED microscope with 14mp USB camera and 3D mechanical stage is a professional full size microscope that offers a total magnification range of between 40x and 2500x, providing six levels of magnification (40X-100X-250X-400X-1000X-2500X).

It is also fitted with a Widefield WF10x/18 and WF25X eyepieces as well as achromatic DIN objectives 4x, 10x, 40x (S) and 100x (S, Oil). This generous range will allow the user to observe a wide variety of specimens, and thus perform all kinds of research applications.

While the viewing binocular part is inclined at a 45 degree angle for easy viewing, the viewing head trinocular can rotate 360 degrees, which means that the user does not have to keep turning the entire microscope in position to view the specimen.

For protection of both the objective lenses and slides under observation, the Omax digital trinocular microscope is equipped with spring- loaded retractable nosecone assembly (for the 40X and 100X objectives).

This allows the lenses to retract when in contact with the slide, which prevents potential breakages. Moreover, the focusing knob can be locked during observation and transportation, which enhances protections.

In place is also a mechanical stain-resistant, double layer stage of size 140mm by 140mm and translation range 75mm by 50mm. Being a 3D mechanical stage, the adjustment knobs can move the stage in an X-Y direction as the user looks for the point of interest in the specimen.

In addition, this Omax microscope has the coaxial coarse and fine knobs on both sides of the microscope for focus. This is specifically designed to enhance convenience during use.

This advanced compound trinocular microscope uses a replaceable LED light (3W LED light) with variable intensity. This produces an evenly distributed light with less heat, which makes it safe for younger users.

The 4096x3288 pixels USB digital imaging system in place allows it to capture still microscopic images as well as live video on the PC.

The set comes with a software that is compatible with different type of computers including; Windows, Mac OS, and Linux operating system. Through this system it is also possible to measure lengths, angles, areas as well as editing images.

Conclusion

Am issue with this microscope (particularly with new users) is that it may take several attempts to get the software to function. Moreover, it seems that there is no way to adjust the focusing point for the digital camera so as to be the same as the optical focusing point.

The OMAX digital trinocular compound LED microscope with 14mp USB camera and 3D mechanical stage is a well built, precise instrument for professional use. It has the advantages of high quality optics as well as top notch software for the camera, which make it ideal for live video recording and focusing. For quick moving subjects in the specimen, the lowest resolution is advised while the highest resolution ideal for still snapshots.

Apart from these issues, this is an excellent microscope that will meet the needs of both students and professionals.
